A porcelain lamp base decorated with hand painted flowers and foliage on an ivory ground. The rim and foot embellished with raised decoration between gilt bands. Originally manufactured to support an oil lamp burner and reservoir secured via the hole in the bottom of the base. By careful addition of a well fitting cork, this lamp base now doubles as an impressive vase.
Dated 1890
Condition: In excellent condition with no cracks, chips or repairs. The decoration remains vibrant and the gilding shows only minor rubbing to the top rim where the burner would have sat.
